Carol Parish, a University of Richmond chemistry professor, will receive an award from the American Chemical Society at its upcoming South Eastern regional meeting for promoting diversity in chemical sciences. ACS will present the Stanley C. Israel Regional Award to Parish. The honor recognizes individuals and institutions that have been constant, vocal advocates for increasing student diversity in the chemical sciences, while supporting activities that promote inclusiveness within the region. Parish is a member of the American Chemical Society’s Women Chemist’s Committee and is a resident of Henrico County.

Richmond resident Barbour Farinholt, a Denison University student, is studying off-campus for the 2011 fall semester. Farinholt, a member of the class of 2014, is studying with the School for International Training Program in Spain. Denison University, located in Granville, Ohio, offers off-campus study programs in the U.S. and overseas, ranging from traditional junior abroad programs in Europe to field project work in developing countries. Students continue to receive full credit towards a Denison degree while participating in the programs.
