![]() Henrico Police Athletic League’s Youth Leadership Council recently held elections and the following officers were elected: Kennedy Goldsborough, president; Malik Holmes, vice president; Jazmine Wilder, treasurer; Aysia Lee, secretary; and Andrew Johnson, Sgt. at arms. Past President Aubrey Temple will attend Duke University in the fall. Temple is a past Henrico PAL Youth of the Year award winner and the current National PAL 2011 Male Youth of the Year award winner. He is currently working the Henrico PAL Summer Camp as a youth counselor. YLC Coordinator and Henrico PAL Board Member Victor Williams manages the YLC. *** Calyn Witz, a 2012 graduate of Henrico High School, has received the 2012 Pamplin Leader Award. The $1,000 scholarship recognizes students that have shown a commitment to academics and extracurricular activities over the course of their high school careers. Witz will attend Virginia Tech in the fall as a human nutrition, foods and exercise major. *** Callaghan S. Guy, of Richmond, recently was named to the dean’s list for the spring 2012 semester at Northeastern University in Boston, Mass. To be eligible for the dean’s list, students must earn a 3.5 or higher grade point average. *** Cynthia Pearce, of Richmond, recently graduated from the University of Massachusetts Boston. |

Henrico Junior 4-H camp registration open

For parents looking to keep their kids outside and away from the video games this summer, the Virginia Cooperative Extension is still accepting registrations for the 2013 Henrico Junior 4-H Camp.
The camp will be held June 17-23, and is open to boys and girls ages 9-13. A total of 10 spaces for boys and 27 spaces for girls remain available, and registration is open until May 24. The cost is $230, which includes lodging, meals, programs, instructional materials and charter bus transportation. > Read more.

Veteran restaurateur set to open in Short Pump
Tran’s Pho 1 Grill will serve Vietnamese fare

Paul Tran, along with his wife Ellen will open up Pho 1 Grill, a Vietnamese restaurant, in June in the Towne Center West Shopping Center.
Tran has been serving up Vietnamese food since the mid-’80s, his first being Que Huong on Rigsby Road. He also owned Mr. Chan’s on Horsepen Road and Saigon Gourmet on Hull Street Road. > Read more.
