Alexander N. Beck, of Glen Allen, recently was named to the President’s List for the fall 2011 semester at Coastal Carolina University in Conway, S.C. To be eligible for the President’s List, students must earn a 4.0 grade point average. The following students were also named to the Dean’s List for the fall 2011 semester: Meghan M. Bandura, of Glen Allen; Mallory L. Moore and Jessica F. Smith, of Richmond; and Garrett I. Walker, of Henrico. To be eligible for the Dean’s List, students must earn a 3.5 grade point average.

The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts recently awarded 27 fellowships to Virginia art students and professional artists for a total of $157,000. Professional fellowships, each worth $8,000, were awarded to Katie Baines (painting), Jeremy Drummond (mixed media), Corin Hewitt (mixed media), Matt King (sculpture), Melanie McLain (mixed media), Dana Ollestad (mixed media) and Edward M. Shenk (mixed media), of Richmond. Undergraduate awards, worth $4,000 each, were given to Rebecca Kuzemchak (painting), of Glen Allen, and Alexander Curley (drawing) and Barbara Pearsall (sculpture), of Richmond. During the VMFA Fellowship Program’s 72 years, the museum has awarded more than $4.6 million to 1,174 students and professional artists. The fellowship funds come from a privately-endowed fund administered by the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.

Warren Leslie Snead III, of Richmond, recently was named to the Dean’s List for the advent 2011 term, at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tenn. To be eligible for the Dean’s List, students must earn a minimum grade point average of 3.625. Snead is the son of Brenda and Warren L. Snead, Jr.

Hilary Hope Koss, of Richmond, recently was named to the Dean’s List for the fall 2011 semester at Converse College in Spartanburg, S.C. Koss is a senior.

Julie Condit and Ronald Harrison, of Richmond, and Timothy West, of Glen Allen, recently were named to the Dean’s List for the fall 2011 semester at the University of Delaware in Newark, Del. To be eligible for the Dean’s List, students must earn a grade point average of 3.33 or higher. Condit is a sophomore majoring in University Studies. Harrison is a senior majoring in Arts and Sciences. West is a sophomore majoring in Engineering.

The Wine Loft opened in West Broad Village in January 2010, offering a full bar with wine, beer, spirits and a kitchen with tapas-style snacks. It offers a seasonal patio area along Whittall Way.
