Maybeury takes third place in national rubik’s cube competition

A team of 10 fifth graders from Maybeury Elementary recently took home a third place finish at the Washington Convention Center, competing in the regional You Can Do the Rubik’s Cube Final Competition. In its final round, the team bettered its time by almost a minute from an earlier qualifying round and the cubers solved 25 cubes in 4:56. This win also earned their math and science departments $150.00.

“We enjoy every opportunity to showcase our students’ talents in different ways,” said Eric Armbruster, the principal at Maybeury. “We are very proud of our students, their ability to perform very well under extreme pressure, and to think outside of the box. I congratulate the students and students’ teacher, Dwayne Cabaniss, for utilizing abstract application of math and thinking skills in a unique way – Go Maybeury!”
