Maybeury students ‘plant it!’

Henrico County third-graders, including the three students from Maybeury Elementary School pictured, will embark on an educational adventure this spring with Dominion’s Project Plant It! program. Teachers received a kit of SOL-based lesson plans and other instructional materials. (Pictured, left to right, are Renee Jervey, Matthew Mays, teacher Meredith Traynham and Tanaja Monroe.)

On Arbor Day, April 29, students will get a tree seedling of their own. The website http://www.projectplantit.com features videos about trees, as well as games, quizzes and fun activities for families to enjoy together while learning about how to improve the environment.

Since 2007, Dominion has distributed more than 100,000 tree seedlings in seven states through Project Plant It! That’s equivalent to 250 acres of new forestland, according to the Virginia Department of Forestry.
