 The store has not met sales or profit expectations, according to company officials. Its 101 employees will be offered the opportunity to transfer to one of the 15 other locations in the Metro Richmond region. The store's pharmacy will continue to operate throughout the shutdown period, according to officials, and pharmacy files will be transferred to a nearby store. The closest Kroger to the Brook Road location is a relatively new store on Atlee Road in Mechanicsville, just off I-295. The closure will reduce Kroger's overall footprint in the Mid-Atlantic region (Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina and parts of Kentucky, Tennessee and Ohio) to 124 stores. |

Henrico Junior 4-H camp registration open

For parents looking to keep their kids outside and away from the video games this summer, the Virginia Cooperative Extension is still accepting registrations for the 2013 Henrico Junior 4-H Camp.
The camp will be held June 17-23, and is open to boys and girls ages 9-13. A total of 10 spaces for boys and 27 spaces for girls remain available, and registration is open until May 24. The cost is $230, which includes lodging, meals, programs, instructional materials and charter bus transportation. > Read more.
