Kroger to permanently close Brook Road store
The Kroger supermarket on Brook Road in Henrico County will close permanently Nov. 18, the Henrico Citizen has learned.
The store has not met sales or profit expectations, according to company officials. Its 101 employees will be offered the opportunity to transfer to one of the 15 other locations in the Metro Richmond region.
The store's pharmacy will continue to operate throughout the shutdown period, according to officials, and pharmacy files will be transferred to a nearby store. The closest Kroger to the Brook Road location is a relatively new store on Atlee Road in Mechanicsville, just off I-295.
The closure will reduce Kroger's overall footprint in the Mid-Atlantic region (Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina and parts of Kentucky, Tennessee and Ohio) to 124 stores.
