Irene pushes into Henrico

Hurricane Irene brought rain and steady winds of 25 to 35 mph to Henrico County late this morning, creating some driving difficulties on local roads and knocking several trees and tree limbs into power lines.

In Lakeside (above), a tree fell into a line in the vicinity of Summit Court, near Dumbarton Road, forcing police to close a section of Cedar Croft Drive.

Police also closed a portion of A.P. Hill Avenue in Highland Springs because of downed power lines, and they were investigating reports of another tree down south of the Collegiate School on River Road.

The Wine Loft opened in West Broad Village in January 2010, offering a full bar with wine, beer, spirits and a kitchen with tapas-style snacks. It offers a seasonal patio area along Whittall Way. Its walk-in wine “humidor” in plain view from the bar offers more than 85 wines by the glass ($6-$65) and about 250 by the bottle ($28 and up), with some emphasis on Italian wines.
