Humane Society earns grant
|
The organization received the money thanks to the efforts of local CarMax sales operations manager Melissa Golden, who has volunteered with HHS for the past 14 years, serving as president and secretary during that time, as well as fundraising chair for the past 12 years. The award recognizes the efforts of CarMax employees nationwide for their personal volunteer efforts, then provides a grant to the nonprofits they designate. Winners of the award were honored at the company’s largest recognition event of the year. Each has selected a non-profit organization to receive a $5,000 grant on their behalf from The CarMax Foundation. The Henrico Humane Society will use the grant to help cover medical expenses for the animals for which it cares.Golden is pictured above, presenting the check to HHS Board President Courtney Morano, as other board members look on. |
