HFCU makes donation to Hermitage PTSA

Henrico Federal Credit Union officials presented a check for $599.57 Nov. 18 to Hermitage High School PTSA, signifying the amount of money earned by HFCU Community Rewards VISA cardholders. The Community Rewards VISA donates up to one percent of members' purchases to the Henrico PTA, PTSA or PTO of the cardholder's choice. The program has awarded more than $20,000 to such organizations since it debuted in 2003. Hermitage raised the most money this year.

Several other parent- teacher groups also received sizable returns ranging between $100 and $400, including Wilder Middle School($396.30), Twin Hickory Elementary ($336.38) and Echo Lake Elementary ($221.88).

“When this VISA is used for everyday purchases it can really add up to be a major contribution for Henrico County PTSAs,” Williams said. “Despite some of the relatively small check amounts, I would like the PTSAs to know that they have an easy way to raise funds for their organization,” said Williams.

The accrual period for CRV donations runs from September to September. “Our hope is that as popularity of the card continues to grow, we can dramatically increase the payout to area schools in years to come," Williams said.
