Henrico’s Top Teachers – 2013

Profiles of 20 teachers who make a difference
Our third annual ‘Henrico’s Top Teachers’ section profiles 20 outstanding educators in Henrico County.

Readers – including students, parents, grandparents and colleagues – submitted nearly 200 teacher nominations last fall, and our staff faced the difficult task of paring those nominees to just 20.

Each of these teachers has, in his or her own unique way, touched hundreds of lives and helped mold the future of Henrico County. We are proud to tell their stories in this special section.

We salute each one – and the many other deserving teachers who give selflessly each day inside – and outside – their classrooms.

Weekend Top 10

It’s a great weekend to get outside! The Pocahontas Chapter of the Virginia Native Plant Society is offering two events this weekend. Accompany the group to find and document native plants present and blooming in Echo Lake Park on Saturday or take a “Sunday Stroll” at Dorey Park to observe the seasonal changes taking place. Other outdoor events this weekend include the final summer concert at West Broad Village and “Fridays on the Patio” at James River Cellars Winery in Glen Allen. If you’re going to be outside, don’t forget the insect repellent! To learn more about avoiding those pesky mosquitos, check out Henrico County’s “Fight-the-Bite TODAY” event tomorrow.
