Henrico teacher charged with aggravated sexual battery
Henrico Police yesterday arrested a Fairfield Middle School exceptional education teacher and charged him with taking indecent liberties with a person younger than 18 years old and aggravated sexual battery of a child younger than 13.
Neil J. French, Jr., of the first block of Barker Avenue in Henrico, was charged in relation to an incident that is alleged to have occurred while he was employed as a Henrico teacher. French most recently was listed as an exceptional education teacher at Fairfield Middle School, according to a faculty list on the school's website. His name had been removed from the site as of 1 p.m.
French has been removed from all classroom activities and does not have any current contact with any students. He is being held in the Henrico County Jail pending arraignment in Henrico Juvenile and Domestic Court.
Investigators from the Henrico County Division of Police and Henrico Child Protective Services Unit worked the case, which will be prosecuted by the Henrico County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office.
