Henrico Extension offers free plant diagnostic clinics at Armour House

The Henrico County Office of the Virginia Cooperative Extension will offer two diagnostic clinics per week beginning Monday, April 9 at the Armour House and Gardens to help residents identify weeds, diseases and insects that may be threatening their gardens and plants.

Master gardeners will be available to assess plant or insect samples from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays, from April 9 through Oct. 29, at the Armour House and Gardens, 4001 Clarendon Road. Plant samples, such as a limb, should include both diseased and healthy sections. A sample of only leaves or dead material is insufficient.

Master gardeners will be able to complete some diagnoses on the spot. Others may require samples to be sent to the Extension Office or to labs at Virginia Tech for further review. The service is available at no cost. An appointment is not needed.

Diagnostic services also are available from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays at the Extension Office in the Human Services Building, 8600 Dixon Powers Drive.
