 The Sept. 11 Tenth Anniversary Memorial Commemoration will remember victims of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon and the airline passengers. It also will salute the first responders from the police and fire units who provided emergency services in the wake of the attacks. “This commemoration is an opportunity to remember those who lost their lives in the tragic events that took place 10 years ago,” said County Manager Virgil Hazelett. “We want to honor and salute their sacrifices for our country.” The program will include remarks from the Henrico County Board of Supervisors, the Henrico County Sheriff and the chiefs of Henrico’s divisions of Police and Fire. It also will feature memorial music and tributes. |

Henrico Junior 4-H camp registration open

For parents looking to keep their kids outside and away from the video games this summer, the Virginia Cooperative Extension is still accepting registrations for the 2013 Henrico Junior 4-H Camp.
The camp will be held June 17-23, and is open to boys and girls ages 9-13. A total of 10 spaces for boys and 27 spaces for girls remain available, and registration is open until May 24. The cost is $230, which includes lodging, meals, programs, instructional materials and charter bus transportation. > Read more.

Veteran restaurateur set to open in Short Pump
Tran’s Pho 1 Grill will serve Vietnamese fare
Paul Tran, along with his wife Ellen will open up Pho 1 Grill, a Vietnamese restaurant, in June in the Towne Center West Shopping Center.
Tran has been serving up Vietnamese food since the mid-’80s, his first being Que Huong on Rigsby Road. He also owned Mr. Chan’s on Horsepen Road and Saigon Gourmet on Hull Street Road. > Read more.
