Henrico CASA is a private, nonprofit organization that works closely with the Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court. Working typically 10 to 15 hours per month, volunteer advocates serve as the voice of children who have been abused or neglected. The training program prepares volunteers to interview children and others involved in their case, submit reports to judges and assist case attorneys. Henrico CASA volunteers worked 12,317 hours and served 302 children during fiscal 2010-11. The caseload in fiscal 2011-12 is on pace to exceed last year’s total by 33 percent. |
