The Henrico Education Foundation will host its first corporate spelling bee March 20 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the University of Richmond. The event, sponsored by Coventry Healthcare, will feature teams of business officials from throughout the county and region competing to earn the "top spellers" title. Proceeds from the event will provide scholarships, field trips and classroom learning enhancement for students in Henrico County Public Schools.
The event is free, and members of the public are invited to attend and support the spellers. It will be held in the Alice Haynes Room in the Tyler Haynes Commons (at Westhampton Lake) on UR's campus. |

Henrico Junior 4-H camp registration open

For parents looking to keep their kids outside and away from the video games this summer, the Virginia Cooperative Extension is still accepting registrations for the 2013 Henrico Junior 4-H Camp.
The camp will be held June 17-23, and is open to boys and girls ages 9-13. A total of 10 spaces for boys and 27 spaces for girls remain available, and registration is open until May 24. The cost is $230, which includes lodging, meals, programs, instructional materials and charter bus transportation. > Read more.
