‘Greater Richmond’s Companies to Watch’ event scheduled for Nov. 10

The Venture Forum, Richmond’s promoter of the local entrepreneurial community, will host its annual Greater Richmond’s Companies to Watch event, scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 10 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at The Boathouse at Rockett’s Landing, 4708 E. Old Main St. The GRCTW program promotes the entrepreneurial environment of the Greater Richmond area by highlighting early-stage businesses that have the potential to become significant contributors to the local economy. The keynote speaker will be Christopher Fey, CEO of U.S. Preventative Medicine. Fey has been elected to the Wall Street Journal’s CEO Council, selected as one of their “100 of the World’s Most Powerful Chief Executives.” Tickets to the event are $25 for Venture Forum members, $35 for nonmembers with a sponsor/member connection and $50 for nonmembers. Free children’s clothing for those in need

The Children's Clothing Closet at Highland Springs United Methodist Church will be open Saturday, Aug. 27 and Tuesday, Aug. 30 to provide free new or nearly new children's clothing for families in need, prior to the start of the school year. Weekend Top 10


It’s a great weekend to get outside! The Pocahontas Chapter of the Virginia Native Plant Society is offering two events this weekend. Accompany the group to find and document native plants present and blooming in Echo Lake Park on Saturday or take a “Sunday Stroll” at Dorey Park to observe the seasonal changes taking place. Other outdoor events this weekend include the final summer concert at West Broad Village and “Fridays on the Patio” at James River Cellars Winery in Glen Allen.
