Glen Allen Library to Reopen Oct. 26
|
The Glen Allen Branch Library of Henrico County Public Libraries, located at 10501 Staples Mill Road, will host a community celebration in honor of the reopening of the library on Monday, Oct. 25, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. The library will be open for business as usual beginning at 10 a.m., Oct. 26.
The Glen Allen Branch Library closed its doors on June 6, 2009, for renovation and expansion. The facility has grown from 12,000 square feet to 25,000 square feet. Its new features now include a larger meeting room, study rooms, an outdoor courtyard, a fireplace, a greatly expanded children’s area, and additional space for new materials. A special Founding Fathers collection celebrating the beginning years of the United States is now located at the library. John Turnbull’s well-known painting, the Declaration of Independence, designates the entrance to this area. The project was financed by the 2005 Henrico bond referendum. |
