The Richmond Regional Planning District Commission (RRPDC) will hold a public meeting Sept. 29 to present two transportation concepts for the Route 5 corridor from 7th Street in downtown Richmond to S. Laburnum Avenue in eastern Henrico County. The meeting will take place in the Virginia Department of Transportation; Central Office Auditorium at 1221 E. Broad Street in Richmond.

Participants will have an opportunity to hear a brief presentation, review details about the conceptual alternatives, and provide feedback and suggestions. Open house discussion with the study team will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. and a brief presentation will take place at 6:30.

The RRPDC, City of Richmond, Henrico County, GRTC Transit System, Virginia Department of Rail & Public Transportation, and Virginia Department of Transportation are studying multimodal transportation improvements along Route 5, an important travel corridor to and from downtown Richmond, to benefit transit, commuters, bicyclists, and pedestrians. As a Virginia Byway Scenic Road, Route 5 will also include the Virginia Capital Trail scheduled to be completed in 2014.
