Fairfield Middle School’s Do Something Club is trying to raise awareness in the Henrico community about youth homelessness and the physical, emotional, social and academic impact of homelessness.

The Do Something Club has once again partnered with Aeropostale for the national "TEENS FOR JEANS" drive. The club is collecting jeans of any size and color to be donated to a local homeless shelter. Every person that makes a donation will receive a 25 percent discount on a new pair of jeans at Aeropostale.

“For me, the reward is seeing my students become empowered through giving back…through their efforts to make a change, these students find their voice and learn what it truly means to be a part of a community,” said Amanda Hall, a club sponsor and teacher at Fairfield. “They begin to realize that civic responsibility includes ‘for the common good’ and that they are not too young to take a stand and make a difference. I have seen this in action through last year’s jean drive and it never ceases to amaze me how powerful and positive the youth voice can be.”

The Do Something Club will be collecting jeans until Feb. 12 and will also host a fashion show in honor of the event on Thursday, Feb. 9 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. All jeans can be dropped off at Fairfield Middle School, 5121 Nine Mile Rd.
