Extension Office to offer free seminars on weed control

The Henrico County Extension Office will kick off its free annual lawn-care seminar series March 8-10 with a program on weed control. The seminars are scheduled for 7-8:30 p.m. at the following locations (each seminar will offer the same program): Tuesday, March 8, Sandston Branch Library, 23 E. Williamsburg Road; Wednesday, March 9, Glen Allen Branch Library, 10501 Staples Mill Road; and Thursday, March 10, Twin Hickory Area Library, 5001 Twin Hickory Road.
"Spring Weed Control" will provide information on a range of topics, including the use of herbicides and the application of pre- and post-emergence products to control weeds before and after they appear. Participants are encouraged to bring samples for identification and discussion. The seminar will include a question-and-answer period as well. Each session will be led by an Extension staff member or a Henrico Master Gardener. "Spring Weed Control" is open to the public. Fan Care offers heat relief to seniors

Qualifying senior citizens can receive free relief from summer heat through the 23rd annual Fan Care program, which provides fans and cooling assistance to seniors 60 and older in need.
The program is an initiative of Senior Connections, The Capital Area Agency on Aging for seniors who meet income eligibility requirements and have a situation that threatens their health. > Read more.
