Approximately 50 children from Henrico and New Kent counties enjoyed breakfast at the Glen Allen Community Center Dec. 11, followed by a shopping excursion at the Wal-Mart on Brook Rd., as part of the annual "Cops and Kids" Christmas Program.

Sponsored by the Henrico Fraternal Order of Police (FOP), the program pairs children with Henrico and New Kent law enforcement officers and allocates a set amount of money for each child to spend, with half devoted to clothing and essentials. The children, who are recommended for the program by school counselors, are allowed to use
the remainder of the money to purchase toys, games, and books of their choosing (with the exception of toy guns or inappropriate movies and video games).
