The 2012 Henrico Christmas Mother Program will take applications on Mondays Oct. 29 through Nov. 19 at the Christmas Mother Warehouse on Dabbs House Road, across from the Eastern Government Center. Times vary - on Oct. 29, Nov. 5 and Nov. 19, applications will be accepted from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; and on Nov. 12, applications will be accepted from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Citizens should bring the following information to apply: proof of county residency (such as a lease or utility bill); Social Security cards for all household members; proof of income for all household members (SSI, disability or salary); proof of disability (for disabled adults); and proof of custody, if necessary. A Henrico County Christmas Mother Council representative will review applications and documentation and, if applicants are found eligible, will assign a time for them to return to the warehouse to shop during the second or third week of December. Henrico Junior 4-H camp registration open

For parents looking to keep their kids outside and away from the video games this summer, the Virginia Cooperative Extension is still accepting registrations for the 2013 Henrico Junior 4-H Camp.
The camp will be held June 17-23, and is open to boys and girls ages 9-13. A total of 10 spaces for boys and 27 spaces for girls remain available, and registration is open until May 24. The cost is $230, which includes lodging, meals, programs, instructional materials and charter bus transportation. > Read more.

Veteran restaurateur set to open in Short Pump
Tran’s Pho 1 Grill will serve Vietnamese fare
Paul Tran, along with his wife Ellen will open up Pho 1 Grill, a Vietnamese restaurant, in June in the Towne Center West Shopping Center.
Tran has been serving up Vietnamese food since the mid-’80s, his first being Que Huong on Rigsby Road. He also owned Mr. Chan’s on Horsepen Road and Saigon Gourmet on Hull Street Road. > Read more.
