Casey named deputy county manager
![]() Casey, who has been a deputy county administrator in Hanover County, will succeed John A. Vithoulkas, who will become county manager Jan. 17, following Hazelett's retirement. As deputy county manager for administration, Casey will oversee the departments of Finance, General Services and Information Technology, as well as the Public Library and legislative liaison. Those functions account for a total of 548 employees and budgets of more than $56 million in fiscal year 2012-13. Casey started work in Hanover in 1990 and served as director of Finance and Management Services until 2004, when he was promoted to deputy county administrator. As deputy county administrator, he supervised the Assessor’s Office; the departments of Finance and Management Services, General Services, Information Technology and Internal Audit; and Public Information. Casey holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Richmond and a master’s in public administration from Virginia Commonwealth University. He is scheduled to receive a doctorate in public policy from Virginia Commonwealth University in May. Casey is a certified public accountant. His professional and community affiliations include the International City/County Management Association, Virginia Local Government Management Association, Government Finance Officers Association, Virginia Government Finance Officers’ Association, Housing Opportunities Made Equal and Virginia Equal Housing Foundation. |

Henrico Junior 4-H camp registration open

For parents looking to keep their kids outside and away from the video games this summer, the Virginia Cooperative Extension is still accepting registrations for the 2013 Henrico Junior 4-H Camp.
The camp will be held June 17-23, and is open to boys and girls ages 9-13. A total of 10 spaces for boys and 27 spaces for girls remain available, and registration is open until May 24. The cost is $230, which includes lodging, meals, programs, instructional materials and charter bus transportation. > Read more.

Veteran restaurateur set to open in Short Pump
Tran’s Pho 1 Grill will serve Vietnamese fare

Paul Tran, along with his wife Ellen will open up Pho 1 Grill, a Vietnamese restaurant, in June in the Towne Center West Shopping Center.
Tran has been serving up Vietnamese food since the mid-’80s, his first being Que Huong on Rigsby Road. He also owned Mr. Chan’s on Horsepen Road and Saigon Gourmet on Hull Street Road. > Read more.
