CareMore opens in Northside

Officials from CareMore and HCA Virginia gathered Oct. 11 to mark the grand opening of the CareMore Care Center in Northern Henrico, one of four new locations locally for the centers, which are owned by Wellpoint, Inc., the parent company of Anthem. The centers will accept only Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield Medicare patients. The grand opening took place at the center at the Brook Run Shopping Center on Brook Road.

CareMore centers are designed to provide coordinated care plans for patients with multiple doctors and have specialized programs to help those with chronic conditions (such as diabetes or congenital heart failure), as well as mental health programs and other social services, such as seminars on phone usage and "Nifty After Fifty," a fitness program. The centers do not replace the role of a patient's primary care physician, however.
