Cantor, Powell to debate Oct. 1

U.S. Representative Eric Cantor (R-7th District) will debate challenger Wayne Powell on Monday, Oct. 1, at 7 p.m. at the CarMax headquarters in Goochland, officials announced today.

The one-hour debate will be hosted by the Virginia Chamber of Commerce. It will feature opening and closing remarks from each candidate, as well as questions from moderator and political analyst Robert Holsworth. Each candidate also will ask his opponent one question.

Each candidate will receive 25 tickets to the debate to distribute to supporters. Tickets also are available for Virginia Chamber members for $25 apiece. Members can order by visiting https://www.cvent.com/events/7th-district-congressional-debate/registration-86401cad75ba4517b0851b7349247ae3.aspx

Henrico Junior 4-H camp registration open

For parents looking to keep their kids outside and away from the video games this summer, the Virginia Cooperative Extension is still accepting registrations for the 2013 Henrico Junior 4-H Camp.

The camp will be held June 17-23, and is open to boys and girls ages 9-13. A total of 10 spaces for boys and 27 spaces for girls remain available, and registration is open until May 24. The cost is $230, which includes lodging, meals, programs, instructional materials and charter bus transportation. > Read more.

The Wine Loft opened in West Broad Village in January 2010, offering a full bar with wine, beer, spirits and a kitchen with tapas-style snacks. It offers a seasonal patio area along Whittall Way.
