Greater Richmond Chamber of Commerce’s Business After Hours event will be held Sept. 21 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Anthem, 2015 Staples Mill Rd. This social, after work event will feature table top exhibitors, refreshments, door prizes and networking opportunities. Tickets are $15 to $20 for members and $30 to $40 for nonmembers. United Way of Greater Richmond & Petersburg recently announced that Slaughter Fitz-Hugh, co-founder of the Richmond-based IT company CapTech Consulting and member of United Way’s Board of Directors since 2004, will serve as the chair of the 2011 annual fundraising campaign. In his role as chair, Fitz-Hugh will lead the 13-member Campaign Cabinet, and the community, in raising at least $17.5 million over the next year for United Way, its partner agencies and impact initiatives. In 2010-11, United Way exceeded its fundraising goal achieving a total of $17.5 million. The United Way fundraising campaign brings together the region’s public and private sectors to support the most vulnerable members of the community. More than 40,000 individuals and more than 1,200 public and private companies, agencies and schools around the region participate in the campaign each year.

Martin’s Food Markets announced recently that they will be collecting donations in all stores on behalf of the American Red Cross through Sept. 26. All proceeds will benefit local American Red Cross chapters to assist families who continue to struggle with basic necessities and cleanup efforts as a result of Hurricane Irene and recent flooding. Customers can make a donation at checkout.

Bon Secours Richmond Health System recently was named among the top 20 in this year’s “Working Mother 100 Best Companies” list for meeting the needs of working mothers and offering family friendly benefits for working parents. This is the 14th year Bon Secours has been named a top company, first making the list in 1998. The number one demand of working moms in 2011, according to “Working Mother,” is flexibility. Henrico Junior 4-H camp registration open

For parents looking to keep their kids outside and away from the video games this summer, the Virginia Cooperative Extension is still accepting registrations for the 2013 Henrico Junior 4-H Camp.

The camp will be held June 17-23, and is open to boys and girls ages 9-13. A total of 10 spaces for boys and 27 spaces for girls remain available, and registration is open until May 24. The cost is $230, which includes lodging, meals, programs, instructional materials and charter bus transportation. > Read more.

Popular Short Pump spot offers upscale comfort, flavors
The Wine Loft opened in West Broad Village in January 2010, offering a full bar with wine, beer, spirits and a kitchen with tapas-style snacks. It offers a seasonal patio area along Whittall Way. Its walk-in wine “humidor” in plain view from the bar offers more than 85 wines by the glass ($6-$65) and about 250 by the bottle ($28 and up), with some emphasis on Italian wines.
