St. Joseph’s Villa recently hired Nicole Garrett as property manager of the Villa’s Hollybrook apartment complex and Claudia Perez as coordinator of the Villa’s new Flagler Housing Resource Center in Petersburg. Prior to joining St. Joseph’s Villa, Garrett worked as a leasing consultant for Forest City Enterprises and a property manager for Landmark Property Services. She is a 2005 graduate of Christopher Newport University. Perez has worked with Flagler Family and Community Services since 2004, serving first as a family life counselor and recently as the Villa’s first housing specialist, where she was responsible for the Villa’s Rapid Re-housing services for homeless families. As coordinator of the Housing Resource Center, Perez will lead efforts to provide prevention and rapid re-housing services.

Capitol Financial Solutions recently hired Bo Grant as brokerage manager. Grant will be involved in personal production, recruiting and contribute to the organization’s brokerage arm, a growing financial services firm which provides a dynamic open architecture of financial service offerings. Grant has a previous career spanning nearly two decades in construction materials and is a graduate of Virginia Military Institute. He resides in Glen Allen with his wife Emily and daughter Ginny Claire, a student at Holman Middle School.

Bon Secours St. Mary's Hospital and Memorial Regional Medical Center were recently named among the top hospitals in the nation, and the only two in Virginia, for inpatient cardiovascular services by Thomson Reuters, an industry leader in health care data. The Bon Secours hospitals are honored for superior clinical outcomes, a recognition based on a comprehensive review measuring key areas that include mortality, complications, readmission rates, length of stay and costs. The study, in its thirteenth year, singled out 50 top hospitals among hospitals that treat a broad spectrum of cardiology patients. The performance of the top 50 hospitals exceeds average outcomes indicated by: better risk-adjusted survival rates (23% fewer deaths for bypass surgeries); lower complication indices (40% lower rate of heart failure complications); fewer patients readmitted to the hospital after 30 days; shorter hospital visits and lower costs; and increased use of internal mammary artery (IMA) for coronary artery bypass surgeries. In addition to recognition from Thomson Reuters, HealthGrades recently recognized Memorial Regional Medical Center, ranking it Virginia’s number one Overall Cardiac Program. St. Joseph’s Villa recently announced that it will begin an after-school program at Lakeside Elementary School, 6700 Cedar Croft St., in early January 2012. The new program will operate from the end of the school day until 6:30 p.m. each night. Each day's program will include snack time, recreational activities and dedicated time for homework. Lewis Children's Center is a full-service child development center on the campus of St. Joseph's Villa. Founded in 1982, the program can accommodate, but was not created for, children with special needs. Children with special needs account for less than 10% of the center's population.
