The seminar, Marketing 911: Market Yourself Through a Crisis, will be presented by Lloyd Leitstein, a strategic planning and marketing strategies advisor, and Joan Bowling, a motivational speaker. The seminar will help participants identify potential risks and discuss how advance planning, effective communication and reputation management are key to a business surviving a crisis. Company founder and owner Rick Eisenman, a native of Newport News and graduate of James Madison University, began the business in 1993 with just two clients. Today the company has more than 28 clients and a staff of five. *** Saxon Shoes in Short Pump Town Center recently partnered with two Richmond-area healthcare organizations to offer employees savings on shoe brands commonly worn in their industry and a contribution to their preferred charity. During the weekend of Aug. 10-12 employees of VCU Medical Center were invited to participate in a special shopping opportunity that included discounts on specific brands and a percentage of sales designated for the Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU. During the next weekend of Aug. 17-19 the staff of Virginia Women's Center was invited to participate in a special opportunity to shop with savings. Additionally, for each pair of shoes purchased, Saxon donated an amount to the charity Midwives for Haiti, a nonprofit started by certified nurse-midwives. *** United Methodist Family Services (UMFS) has received a $41,470 grant from the Altria Companies Employee Community Fund (ACECF). The check was presented to UMFS CEO Greg Peters by ACECF at a reception at Altria headquarters. The grant will help fund a mentoring work program for students served by UMFS. Dr. Erik Laursen will coordinate the program. *** The Galleria West Broad has leased 47,200 square feet at 7800 West Broad St. in Henrico. Commonwealth Commercial Partners, Inc. represented the landlord. *** Charles E. McCabe, CEO and founder of Glen Allen-based Peoples Income Tax, Inc., is celebrating the firm’s 25th anniversary. Peoples opened its first income tax office in 1987 and expanded to 26 locations in Central Virginia over the next nine years. In 1989 Peoples Tax was approved by the Virginia Department of Education to operate Peoples Income Tax School. Over the next 10 years, Peoples faced increasing competition but the tax school continued to grow and was renamed The Income Tax School (ITS). Small business and advanced courses and continuing education (CE) seminars were added and in 2003, McCabe developed a learning management system to deliver elearning courses and CE seminars directly to students nationwide. ITS also created a set of four Tax Practice Management Manuals: Tax Office Operations, Marketing, Personnel and Expansion. |
