Bon Secours St. Mary’s Hospital has achieved “Triple Crown” from Thomson Reuters, an industry leader in health care data. The hospital has been recognized three times this year—for excellence in overall organization performance in the 2012 Thomson Reuters 100 Top Hospitals study; as a recipient of the Everest Award, which honors hospitals that have achieved both the highest current performance and the fastest long-term improvement over a five-year period; and as one of the nation’s 50 Top Hospitals for Cardiovascular Care. St. Mary’s is one of three hospitals in the nation, and the only one in Virginia, to receive all three awards.
Bon Secours Richmond Health System has announced the opening of the new St. Mary’s Wound Care Center at Reynolds Crossing. The health system’s second full-service wound care center offers highly specialized treatment for chronic wounds, including hospital-based outpatient wound care, disease management and diabetes care. Dr. Gregg L. Londrey, of Virginia Surgical Associates, will serve as medical director. The Center is located at 6900 Forest Ave., Suite 115, in the Reynolds Crossing medical complex. Agents with Cushman & Wakefield | Thalhimer recently handled the following lease negotiations: Weyerhaeuser – leased 72,399 square feet in the Sarellen Road Warehouse at 4214-4222 Sarellen Rd.; and Mid-Atlantic Convenience Stores – leased 13,800 square feet in the Fairgrounds Distribution Center at 4581 Carolina Ave.
The National Institutes of Health–National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases has awarded Laura Runyen-Janecky, associate professor of biology at the University of Richmond, a three-year, $344,059 grant to continue her work on bacteria carried by tsetse flies and their potential implications for tsetse-borne disease. Runyen-Janecky’s project will be conducted with research assistance from Richmond undergraduates and in collaboration with professors in Yale University’s Department of Epidemiology and Public Health at Yale University School of Medicine. Runyen-Janecky was a visiting associate professor at Yale in 2010. Funds will be used for employing undergraduate students for summer research, materials, supplies and travel to present results. Runyen-Janecky has taught at Richmond since 2002.
Dr. Even Alexander, a New York Times best-selling author who has been featured on Oprah and Dr. Oz, was in town last week to promote his June 27 talk, "Proof of Heaven," at Glen Allen High School.

The Innsbrook Rotary Club, which is celebrating its 25th year in 2015, has completed a number of volunteer projects this year and raised thousands of dollars for various organizations through three events.
The club's annual rose sale, benefit for youth live auction and Virginia Fire Games competition, combined with individual and corporate donations, have raised nearly $70,000 – money that the club contributes back to the community.
FeedMore is the beneficiary of the club's 25th anniversary project, which provides refrigerated trailers to be used for the distribution of food throughout Central Virginia. > Read more.
