Arts and crafts specialty retailer Michaels will open its new store at White Oak Village, 4531 S. Laburnum Ave., on May 20 at 10 a.m. Key departments such as jewelry, scrapbooking and kids have been expanded and re-organized for easy shopping. A card-making event will be held during the grand opening and craft supplies will be donated to a local Starlight Children’s Foundation chapter. Comcast recently opened a new Xfinity Service Center at the existing customer service center location at 5401 Staples Mill Rd. Designed around the needs and feedback of customers, the newly renovated retail store features a new queuing system that provides Comcast customers with an opportunity to explore, learn about and interact directly with Xfinity products and services at kiosks rather than waiting in line for service. Other features include flat screen televisions and a 3D TV set and glasses that allow customers to experience 3D viewing. Curves women's gyms in the Richmond area will give a free 30-day membership to any non-member who visits a club throughout National Women's Health Week, May 13-19.
