Maxwell Preston Chance recently was named senior project manager for the Richmond office of Dewberry, a privately held professional services firm headquartered in Fairfax, Va. In his new role, Chance will manage engineering disciplines in the water and energy infrastructure design practices and assist in business development efforts throughout the firm’s Southeast region. He is a graduate of the Virginia Military Institute and is a registered professional engineer in the state.

United Way of Greater Richmond & Petersburg and Lift Caregiving recently announced their new partnership, which will make http://www.liftcaregiving.com a centerpiece of United Way’s online resource center for family caregivers. The website will offer guest authors, insights from subject-matter experts, live chats, invited provider listings and first-hand perspectives from actual caregivers. Lift’s resources are pre-screened, dependable and trustworthy. The partnership will help to enhance United Way’s support for people who are caring for the older adults in their lives.

Sherri Roccafocte, of Chester, was recently declared the grand prize winner of Martin’s Food Markets One Year Anniversary Car Giveaway Sweepstakes, driving away with a 2011 GMC Terrain provided by Patrick Auto Group. One winner was selected from each of the 25 Martin’s in the greater Richmond and Williamsburg communities for a chance to win the grand prize. The remaining 24 finalists each received a $1,000 Martin’s gift card. Senior Connections, The Capital Area Agency on Aging is seeking nominees to honor for their dedication to enhancing the quality of life of older adults in the region. Four awards will be presented during its 8th annual Empty Plate Luncheon on Oct. 12 at the Science Museum of Virginia. Nominations are sought in four areas of service and/or advocacy: MaryEllen Cox Memorial Award for Advocacy – given to an individual who exemplifies the leadership and community involvement of the late MaryEllen Cox; E. Harris Spindle Award for Service to Seniors – given to a business, corporate or human service organization that contributes to the well-being of senior citizens and caregivers; Richard Hogan Memorial Award for Volunteer Service – given to an individual who volunteers in the community; and Eva Teig Hardy Award for Corporate Service – given to an individual in the corporate community who has made significant contributions to enhance programs for seniors and/or caregivers. Dean Myers, owner of Maaco Collision Repair & Auto Painting center at 9407 Old Staples Mill Rd., recently celebrated 30 years as a Maaco franchisee. Maaco specializes in value-driven repairs that can preserve the value of newer cars, increase the value of older vehicles and save on repair costs prior to lease turn-ins. The center has repaired more than 30,000 vehicles since its opening and it is one of 475 Maaco centers that repair and paint more than 600,000 vehicles a year. The facility is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.

University of Richmond’s School of Continuing Studies will offer massage therapy studies, including coursework to prepare for initial certification and continuing education coursework in the burgeoning profession, beginning in September. Accredited and approved by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB), the program will enroll a maximum of 14 students each in separate part-time and full-time tracks. Either option costs $9,000. Students will practice massage techniques in student clinics, on their own with family and friends, and will also be required to complete 30 supervised massages during their studies. An informational meeting will be held on Aug. 17 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the university’s Jepson Alumni Center. Henrico Junior 4-H camp registration open

For parents looking to keep their kids outside and away from the video games this summer, the Virginia Cooperative Extension is still accepting registrations for the 2013 Henrico Junior 4-H Camp.

The camp will be held June 17-23, and is open to boys and girls ages 9-13. A total of 10 spaces for boys and 27 spaces for girls remain available, and registration is open until May 24. The cost is $230, which includes lodging, meals, programs, instructional materials and charter bus transportation. > Read more.

Popular Short Pump spot offers upscale comfort, flavors
The Wine Loft opened in West Broad Village in January 2010, offering a full bar with wine, beer, spirits and a kitchen with tapas-style snacks. It offers a seasonal patio area along Whittall Way. Its walk-in wine “humidor” in plain view from the bar offers more than 85 wines by the glass ($6-$65) and about 250 by the bottle ($28 and up), with some emphasis on Italian wines.
