Arrest warrants issued for suspect in UR incident
University of Richmond Police have obtained warrants for the arrest of a suspect related with an early morning incident that began at the University Forest Apartments on campus.
Connor T. O’Leary, a 25-year-old white male whose last known address is New Kent County, is charged with reckless driving and felony eluding of a law enforcement officer. O’Leary is not a student or employee of the university.
O’Leary is described as 6 foot 2, 190 pounds, with brown hair, green eyes and wearing glasses.
According to university officials, University Police approached a suspicious SUV parked in the 1700 block of the University Forest Apartments at about 4:30 a.m. today. During the interaction, a police officer fired his weapon. An investigation is continuing with the cooperation of the Henrico County Police Department. There were no injuries, and there was no immediate threat to the campus, officials said.
Later this morning, at approximately 8:30 a.m., Henrico Police received a call from OnStar reporting that a stolen vehicle was being monitored in the area of I-95 and Brook Road. The vehicle was tracked to the area of the University of Richmond, where officers located it but opted not to stop it until it was off campus.
When the vehicle traveled onto Three Chopt Road, police initiated a pursuit. A short distance away, the driver stopped the vehicle and fled on foot. Multiple officers searched the area but were unable to locate the driver.
The two incidents have not been linked together yet, according to Henrico Police, but an investigation is ongoing.
Anyone with information regarding either incident is asked to call Henrico Police at (804) 501-5000 or Crime Stoppers at (804) 780-1000.
