Greater Richmond ARC volunteers Edna Teagle and Mary Snellings, with supervisor Patty Haymans, weed and prepare mulch beds for trees at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden.

Groups of 10 adults with special needs travel with ARC staffers to the garden every Wednesday to help with a wide range of garden-related activities, including mulching and weeding a section of trees.

While the garden benefits from the help, the ARC volunteers accomplish many of their individual goals,
including community integration, volunteerism and socializing with others, all with the added bonus of being outdoors.
