Three Henrico elementary schools were among 25 schools statewide to win a special dance party hosted by Radio Disney AM 1290, thanks to high participation rates in the "Get Active Get Fit!" School Challenge.
Henrico schools making the state's top 25 include Lakeside E.S., Pemberton E. S., and Twin Hickory E.S. Sponsored by Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, the Challenge is designed to motivate kids and families to achieve fitness together by engaging in fun activities. The program was implemented in more than 346 elementary schools in 69 divisions throughout the fall of 2010, furthering a commitment to encourage a healthy and active lifestyle among 159,000 of Virginia’s school-age children. |

Henrico Junior 4-H camp registration open

For parents looking to keep their kids outside and away from the video games this summer, the Virginia Cooperative Extension is still accepting registrations for the 2013 Henrico Junior 4-H Camp.
The camp will be held June 17-23, and is open to boys and girls ages 9-13. A total of 10 spaces for boys and 27 spaces for girls remain available, and registration is open until May 24. The cost is $230, which includes lodging, meals, programs, instructional materials and charter bus transportation. > Read more.
