2 replica grenades detected in baggage at RIC
![]() A TSA screener who noticed the plastic toys on the X-ray monitor at the checkpoint contacted the Capital Regional Airport Commission Police, who responded and confiscated the items. The woman missed her flight but was permitted to re-book on a later flight. There was no impact to airport operations. Weapons and replicas are not permitted in carry-on baggage, since even replicas could create panic or fear among passengers during a flight. Passengers can review the prohibited items list on the TSA homepage at http://www.tsa.gov or download the free MyTSA mobile app from the site. The TSA website and the MyTSA app have a “Can I Bring?” feature that allows users to type in items they plan to bring on a trip to get an explanation of TSA’s security policies for the item, including whether the item can be taken in carry-on luggage through the security checkpoint, packed in checked baggage, both, or neither. |
