Nuckols Farm students’ art hangs at West Creek Emergency Center

The pediatric wing of HCA Virginia’s West Creek Emergency Center is now filled with artwork by children of Nuckols Farm Elementary School.

West Creek and NFES launched the partnership in celebration of Youth Art Month.

During a ceremony held last week, 12 students ranging from kindergarten to fifth grade were recognized for their works.

Representatives from West Creek, Henrico Doctors’ Hospital, Nuckols Farm Elementary and Henrico County Public Schools also attended.

“It is such a warm display in the pediatric wing of the ER and I know it will provide just that touch of comfort to kids and their families,” said Heather Pote, Nuckols Farm Elementary School PTA president. The Nuckols Farm Elementary kids and families were so proud. It is nice to have opportunities for our kids to help enrich the community.”

Artwork mediums range from tempera and oil pastel to watercolor and mixed media.

Youth Art Month is an annual observance every March to emphasize the value of art education for all youth and to encourage support for quality school art programs. YAM provides a forum for acknowledging skills that are fostered through experience in the visual arts that are not possible in other subjects offered in the curriculum.
