Henrico fifth-grade wins his third straight competition

Three Chopt Elementary School fifth-grader Aditya Kannoth won his third consecutive Henrico County Division-Wide Spelling Bee Jan. 19 at Hungary Creek Middle School, correctly spelling the winning word, immaculate, in the 13th round. He will again represent Henrico at the Regional Spelling Bee March 5 at 1 p.m. at the Library of Virginia. Eighth-grader Céline Tran of Hungary Creek Middle School became the runner-up after incorrectly spelling the word, narcissus. One winner from each of the 44 elementary schools and one winner from each of the 12 middle schools competed to spell words generated by the Scripps Howard National Spelling Bee office. |
