The award recognizes contractors who deliver an exceptional customer service experience. Blue Ridge Exteriors, LLC was one of three companies nationally recognized in the under $10 million category as chosen by Guild Quality and Hanley Wood publishing. *** Virginia Eye Institute doctors performed nearly two dozen free cataract surgeries as part of VEI's 20th annual Cataract Mission on Feb. 23. The 2013 Cataract Mission included 80 VEI volunteers, from the front desk staff to physicians, serving central Virginians who lack insurance and a way to pay for the life-altering surgery. To date, VEI’s Cataract Mission program has donated more than 800 eye exams and 240 surgeries in the program’s 19-year history. Patients are provided with post-op follow-up at no charge and a new temporary lens for eyeglasses. More than $5,000 worth of services is provided at no charge to each patient undergoing cataract surgery. *** First Capital Bank has launched a free mobile banking app for customers to view their account balance and history, transfer funds and find branches and ATMs that are closest to their current location. The mobile app is free and available for both Android devices and Apple iPhones or iPads. Included as part of the app are Mobile Purchase Rewards, which lets customers turn their smartphone into a savings tool. Using the app, customers can receive and activate customized merchant-funded discounts or rewards that are based on their personal buying habits. Customers simply swipe their bank debit card to redeem and save money. The savings are automatically deposited back in the customer’s checking account at the end of each month. Other features include direct access to customer service emails and phone numbers in case questions or help is needed with the users account or mobile banking. *** Weichert Realtors – Baron & Snipes Co., located in Glen Allen, has awarded Greg Baron and Keith Smith the WREA 2012 Sales Achievement Award. The awards are based on minimum requirement per award category in gross commission income or units earned in 2012. These agents earned their recognition from among associates in 35 states at year’s end. Also honored is Christy Kitchens who was named Rookie of the Year by the Weichert Virginia and E. Henrico Junior 4-H camp registration open

For parents looking to keep their kids outside and away from the video games this summer, the Virginia Cooperative Extension is still accepting registrations for the 2013 Henrico Junior 4-H Camp.
The camp will be held June 17-23, and is open to boys and girls ages 9-13. A total of 10 spaces for boys and 27 spaces for girls remain available, and registration is open until May 24. The cost is $230, which includes lodging, meals, programs, instructional materials and charter bus transportation. > Read more.

Veteran restaurateur set to open in Short Pump
Tran’s Pho 1 Grill will serve Vietnamese fare

Paul Tran, along with his wife Ellen will open up Pho 1 Grill, a Vietnamese restaurant, in June in the Towne Center West Shopping Center.
Tran has been serving up Vietnamese food since the mid-’80s, his first being Que Huong on Rigsby Road. He also owned Mr. Chan’s on Horsepen Road and Saigon Gourmet on Hull Street Road. > Read more.
