School briefs - Rolfe Middle School

John Rolfe Middle School has numerous events happening in February. On Feb. 7, students and parents had their rising seventh- and eighth-grade curriculum fair. All current sixth- and seventh-grade families were invited to come and learn about the course offerings for 2013-2014.

Feb. 4-8 was National School Counseling Week. We recognized our entire school counseling team that week. We showed thanks to them by doing a different activity each day of the week such as: Crazy Sock Day, Red, White & Blue Day, Backwards Day, and Hat Day. Thank you to all of our school counselors.

On Feb. 15, the student Valentine’s Day Dance was held. It was a chance for a student to bring that special someone to drink, eat and dance. It was sponsored by John Rolfe Middle School’s PTA.

John Rolfe had a coat drive in January. Students could bring coats, gloves, scarves, and hats to put in the donation box. We collected 60 coats, hats, scarves, and gloves. They were all donated to the Richmond Freedom House.

Congratulations to students Chris Jones and Patrick Booker, who were selected to the district chorus group. They joined the district chorus on Feb. 9 at Atlee High School. Congratulations also go out to Ms. Dargon, our chorus teacher.

The winter sports season is over. Now, we head into spring sports. The selections for spring sports are track, boys tennis, girls soccer, baseball and softball.
