Job fair for veterans planned at RIR

A veteran-hiring event, connecting veterans and military spouses with local and national veteran-friendly employers, will be held Jan. 31 at Richmond International Raceway. Produced by RecruitMilitary in cooperation with The American Legion, the expo will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Raceway, located at 600 East Laburnum Avenue. Veterans who already have civilian work experience, as well as men and women transitioning from active duty to civilian life, members of the National Guard and reserves, military spouses, and other military family members are invited to attend.
More than 25 veteran-friendly local and national employers franchisors, educational institutions, and government agencies are expected to reserve exhibitor booths at the expo, including National Oilwell Varco, Exelon, Dominion Paving and Sealing Inc., Pyramid Consulting, Capital One, (Washington, D.C.) Metropolitan Police Department Recruiting Division, American Income Life Insurance Company, First Command Financial Planning, The Art Institutes, Centura College, and Heavy Construction Academy. |

Henrico Junior 4-H camp registration open

For parents looking to keep their kids outside and away from the video games this summer, the Virginia Cooperative Extension is still accepting registrations for the 2013 Henrico Junior 4-H Camp.
The camp will be held June 17-23, and is open to boys and girls ages 9-13. A total of 10 spaces for boys and 27 spaces for girls remain available, and registration is open until May 24. The cost is $230, which includes lodging, meals, programs, instructional materials and charter bus transportation. > Read more.

Veteran restaurateur set to open in Short Pump
Tran’s Pho 1 Grill will serve Vietnamese fare

Paul Tran, along with his wife Ellen will open up Pho 1 Grill, a Vietnamese restaurant, in June in the Towne Center West Shopping Center.
Tran has been serving up Vietnamese food since the mid-’80s, his first being Que Huong on Rigsby Road. He also owned Mr. Chan’s on Horsepen Road and Saigon Gourmet on Hull Street Road. > Read more.
