Crews working to restore Tuckahoe ES

Crews are working to repair the portions of Tuckahoe Elementary School that were damaged by an electrical fire Sunday afternoon.

The small fire filled about three-quarters of the school with smoke and made it impossible for classes to be held there for several weeks. Students are being moved to Short Pump Middle School beginning Thursday, while repair work takes place at Tuckahoe.

Restorations are expected to take two to three weeks to complete. Tuckahoe students and staff will be able to occupy their own section of Short Pump Middle School during the process.

An information session for Tuckahoe parents and students is scheduled for Nov. 14 at 6:30 p.m. in the gymnasium of Short Pump Middle School, 4701 Pouncey Tract Road.
