Redistricting process set for new West End ES

Henrico County Public Schools will host two public information sessions Sept. 5 and 6, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Deep Run High School to outline plans for the redistricting process for a new western Henrico elementary school that will open in 2013.

The new school, to be located at 5680 Pouncey Tract Road, could pull students from any of 10 elementary schools – Colonial Trail, Gayton, Jackson Davis, Longan, Nuckols Farm, Pinchbeck, Ridge, Rivers Edge, Shady Grove and Short Pump.

Two volunteer representatives from each of those 10 schools will meet in a committee to help establish possible redistricting options for the School Board to consider. Interested volunteers must apply by Sept. 10 and will be selected Sept. 13.

The School Board intends to approve boundaries for the new school at its Dec. 13 meeting.
