J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College President Dr. Gary L. Rhodes recently received the Ukrop Community Vision Service Award at the Leadership Metro Richmond Annual Spring Luncheon. Rhodes (LMR Class of 2004) received the award in recognition of demonstrating purposeful vision, genuine concern and respect for others and creating solutions for positive change within the Richmond region. Rhodes is board chair of SMART Beginnings and serves on seven other boards including Capital Region Collaborative.

J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College has named David Barrish as the dean of the School of Business. Barrish will be responsible for directing strategic planning, environmental scanning, research and analysis, instructional program development and evaluation, enrollment management, development and implementation of distance learning instructional delivery and student outcome assessment. At Reynolds, Barrish has served as interim dean and assistant dean of the School of Business and Engineering on two separate occasions and has held the position of full-time faculty member, program head, and director of the School of Culinary Arts, Hospitality, and Tourism. Additionally, he possesses extensive experience in the private sector, where he worked for the Sheraton Corporation and the Richmond Hotels Company.

Christopher A. Moore, of Glen Allen, recently graduated magna cum laude from the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Va. He double majored in business administration and classics with a concentration in Latin. A graduate of Freeman High School, Moore also was nominated as the Capital Athletic Conference Male Scholar Athlete of the Year.

Elizabeth A. Drewry, of Glen Allen, recently was named to the dean’s list for the spring 2012 semester at Francis Marion University in Florence, S.C. To be eligible for the dean’s list, students must earn a grade point average between 3.25 and 3.749.

Upon his retirement from Virginia Commonwealth University, Dr. Nelson Wikstrom was designated professor emiritus of political science and public administration. He is the author of many books and a score of professional articles focusing on local government and politics, including “County Manager Government in Henrico, Virginia: Implementation, Evolution, and Evaluation,” published in 2003.

Warren Snead III, son of Brenda & Warren L. Snead, Jr., of Richmond, recently was named to the dean’s list for the spring 2012 semester at University of the South in Sewanee, Tenn. To be eligible for the dean’s list, students must earn a minimum grade point average of 3.625.

Douglas Edwards, of Richmond, recently earned the distinction of faculty honors for the spring 2012 semester at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Ga. To be eligible for faculty honors, students must earn a 4.0 grade point average.
