Commonwealth Eye Care Associates, 10431 Patterson Ave., is inviting blind and visually impaired artists from metro Richmond to participate in their first annual CECA Insight Art Exhibit displaying paintings, drawings, sculptures and other mixed media. Artwork will be selected based on the artist’s originality, expressive use of media, artistic excellence and on their ability to inspire dialogue about the role of vision in the creative process. The Princeton Review and the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) recently published the free downloadable book, “Guide to 322 Green Colleges,” in which University of Richmond was listed. The Princeton Review selected colleges for the book based on a survey it conducted of hundreds of colleges across the United States and Canada. Results also are used to tally a “green rating score” of 60-99, used in the company’s other college guidebooks and website. Colleges in the book are not ranked, but each scored a green rating of at least 83. Richmond scored 95.

The Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) recently named University of Richmond to the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll for the fourth time in recognition of commitment to, and achievement in, community service. Schools are selected annually for the scope and innovation of service projects, percent of student participation in community service, incentives for service and the extent of service-learning courses in the curriculum. CNCS is a federal agency that oversees service through Senior Corps, AmeriCorps and Learn and Serves America, and leads President Barack Obama’s initiative, United We Serve.
