Kroger recently opened a new fuel center location at its store at 4816 South Laburnum Avenue. The new site brings the number of centers to 53 in Kroger's Mid-Atlantic region.
* * * Martin's Food Markets recently named Vicki L. Kiger as its community relations coordinator for the company’s south region, which encompasses the greater Richmond and Williamsburg communities. Kroger formerly served as the director of marketing at SportsQuest and has more than 20 years of marketing and special events experience. * * * The Henrico Business Council cabinet voted Nov. 17 to approve a resolution supporting the establishment of a Defense Manufacturing Zone. One of the legislative requests that Henrico County has proposed for the General Assembly session, the Defense Manufacturing Zone legislation may expand in scope to become a regional or statewide initiative. * * * Century 21 Option 1 Realty recently sent Jeff Tuck as a representative to the annual Century 21 Leadership Conference, held by Century 21 Real Estate LLC to provide its brokers, owners and managers the chance to learn about relevant real estate industry trends and new system resources. * * * Keith L. Smith, broker associate of Weichert Realtors in Glen Allen, recently was ordained as a deacon at St. Paul's Baptist Church in Richmond. Smith has been a member of the church since 2003. * * * Eastern Virginia Bankshares, Inc. (EVB), which is commemorating 100 years of banking at its 25 branches across Eastern Virginia in 2010, recently donated 20 new computer systems to the public libraries in Henrico and other localities in eastern Virginia. Each of the new PCs includes a widescreen monitor and will enable local libraries to help their patrons with Internet research and more. * * * Richmond-based design firm H&A Architects & Engineers donated 4,237 pounds of food for the Central Virginia FoodBank. H&A encouraged its 250 employees to donate by organizing the departments into competing teams. The electrical department in the Richmond office donated more than 2000 pounds, contributing close to half the total amount of donations. * * * Virginia Commonwealth University recently leased 3,420 square feet in the 3600 Centre, 3600 West Broad Street in Henrico County. N. Dean Meyer of Thalhimer handled lease negotiations. * * * Snipes Preferred Properties recently leased 3,196 square feet in the Daniel Building, 3805 Cutshaw Avenue in Henrico County. Brian K. Berkey and Mac Wilson of Thalhimer handled lease negotiations. * * * Kipling Financial Services, LLC recently leased 3,132 square feet at 4300 South Laburnum Avenue in Henrico County. Austin H. Newman of Thalhimer handled lease negotiations. |

Henrico Junior 4-H camp registration open

For parents looking to keep their kids outside and away from the video games this summer, the Virginia Cooperative Extension is still accepting registrations for the 2013 Henrico Junior 4-H Camp.
The camp will be held June 17-23, and is open to boys and girls ages 9-13. A total of 10 spaces for boys and 27 spaces for girls remain available, and registration is open until May 24. The cost is $230, which includes lodging, meals, programs, instructional materials and charter bus transportation. > Read more.

Veteran restaurateur set to open in Short Pump
Tran’s Pho 1 Grill will serve Vietnamese fare

Paul Tran, along with his wife Ellen will open up Pho 1 Grill, a Vietnamese restaurant, in June in the Towne Center West Shopping Center.
Tran has been serving up Vietnamese food since the mid-’80s, his first being Que Huong on Rigsby Road. He also owned Mr. Chan’s on Horsepen Road and Saigon Gourmet on Hull Street Road. > Read more.
