Henrico supervisors to hold April 10 public hearing on budget
The Henrico County Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing Tuesday, April 10 on the proposed Annual Fiscal Plan for Fiscal Year 2012-13.
The meeting will begin at 6 p.m., one hour earlier than usual, in the Board Room of the Henrico Government Center, 4301 E. Parham Road.
Residents may provide oral or written comments on the proposed $1 billion plan to guide operating and capital spending for the year beginning July 1. The plan recommends a general fund of $735.3 million for operations of Henrico’s general government, including the divisions of Police and Fire, and its school system. The proposed general fund represents a decrease of $8.4 million, or 1.1 percent, from the current year plan.
The proposed budget recommends no change to the real estate tax rate of 87 cents per $100 of assessed value.

Copies of the proposed budget, which includes an overview message by County Manager Virgil R. Hazelett, P.E., are available for public inspection at Henrico libraries, the Circuit Court Clerk’s office and at http://www.co.henrico.va.us/finance/proposed1213.html The .Board of Supervisors typically meets at 7 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month in the Board Room of the Henrico Government Center.
Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) will host a candlelight vigil of remembrance and hope Tuesday, Dec. 2 at 7 p.m. at the University of Richmond, outside the Cannon Chapel. The public is invited to attend and join MADD to honor victims of impaired driving crashes, while helping to remind the community to be safe during the holidays. > Read more.

Event will help kick of Marine Corps' 'Toys for Tots' campaign
All 140 A.C. Moore locations will serve as drop-off centers this year for the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, and all toys collected will stay in the local communities served by the stores in which they are donated.
On Saturday, Nov. 15, the Willow Lawn location will kick off the month-long program by hosting a "Make & Take" craft event for kids. Children ages six and older will be able to make a craft and take it home with them. Representatives from the Marines will be in-store to teach customers about the Toys for Tots program. A.C.
