The Henrico County Public Library, in partnership with Henrico County Public Schools, the Friends of Henrico County Public Library, the Henrico Education Foundation, and a new business partner, Richmond International Raceway, will host Garth Stein, author of the New York Times bestseller The Art of Racing in the Rain, on Thursday, April 5 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Glen Allen High School, 10700 Staples Mill Rd. Books will be available for sale and the author will autograph books following the program.
The Art of Racing in the Rain is a story of love, family, loyalty and hope told against the backdrop of car racing and is narrated by an extraordinary dog named Enzo. This event is free and open to the public. Seating is first come, first served. Doors will open at 6:15 pm. Dennis Bickmeier, president of Richmond International Raceway, will also host a special luncheon with the author at the Torque Club, 600 E. Laburnum Ave., from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tickets are $40 and are available through PayPal at http://www.henricolibrary.org/ahr/lunch All .who attend will be eligible to win a free pace car ride around the track. Henrico County Public Libraries are collecting cat and dog food at all locations throughout the month of March. Henrico Junior 4-H camp registration open

For parents looking to keep their kids outside and away from the video games this summer, the Virginia Cooperative Extension is still accepting registrations for the 2013 Henrico Junior 4-H Camp.
The camp will be held June 17-23, and is open to boys and girls ages 9-13. A total of 10 spaces for boys and 27 spaces for girls remain available, and registration is open until May 24. The cost is $230, which includes lodging, meals, programs, instructional materials and charter bus transportation. > Read more.
