Henrico County Police have made two arrests in connection with several burglaries in Henrico's West End, with the possibility of more charges as their investigation continues.

Police this week arrested 25-year-old Benjamin O. Heslep, of the 5500 block of Cedar Croft Street, and 22-year-old Michele S. Rintoul, of the 7800 block of Shadowood Court; both suspects were charged with burglary, grand larceny, larceny with intent to sell and conspiracy in each of four separate incidents.

Police reported what they termed a dramatic increase in residential break-ins in December through Jan. 18 this year. Most occurred in the afternoon hours, when homeowners and neighbors were not present.

Police received a top from a citizen who noticed suspicious behavior in a neighborhood, and they subsequently developed Heslep and Rintoul as suspects. They apprehended them immediately after two burglaries were committed.

Partly in response to the increased number of incidents, Tuckahoe District Supervisor Patricia O'Bannon's Jan. 31 town hall meeting will address ways in which residents can protect their homes and property.

O'Bannon's meeting will be held at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. in the Story Room of Tuckahoe Area Library, 1901 Starling Drive. Representatives of the Henrico County Division of Police will join O’Bannon at each session to discuss community policing initiatives and explain the process to establish a community watch program.
