A recent report released by HealthGrades named Bon Secours’ St. Mary’s Hospital among the top five percent in the nation for emergency medicine and Henrico Doctors’ Hospital, including Parham Doctors’ Hospital and Retreat Doctors’ Hospital, among the top five percent in the nation for women’s health. Bon Secours has launched ConnectCare, an application that allows patients to access their confidential information, including medical history, allergies, test results and medications, at any time via PC or Apple, iPhone, iPad or iPad Touch. This technology is the only one of its kind in the region. The patient’s care team, including physicians and medical staff, can also access this information to review charts and have dictated notes transcribed, enabling them to remotely make critical decisions. Monica Longest Horsley, owner of invitation and stationary store By Invitation Only, has sold the business to Kerri DiStanlo, currently a stay-at-home mom and owner of Polka Dot Paper Shop, an online paper store. Horsley, a former school teacher, bought the business in 2002 and relocated it from Innsbrook to the Shoppes at Westgate in Short Pump. DiStanlo plans on adding new brands, creating online ordering and expanding the store’s wedding selection. Horsley plans to stay on staff throughout the summer to ensure a smooth transition. Chick-fil-A in The Shops at Willow Lawn recently reopened in a new location just outside the mall. The new restaurant faces Willow Lawn Dr. just down from Starbucks and Staples. Hours of operation are 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday-Saturday. Since opening in 1987, the store has generated hundreds of jobs and awarded more than $15,000 in scholarships to its restaurant team members. In addition, the restaurant is actively involved in many local schools, churches and community organizations. The deadline for nominations for Allen and Allen’s 2011 Hometown Heroes award is May 27.
